Our Instructors

Sigung started his training when he was 10 years old in Southern Kung Fu back in 1976 with his brother-in-law, Sifu Ralph Ruiz. In 1980 he started studying Northern Dragon (Northern 5 Animals) kung fu with Master Yamamoto and Northern Long Fist (Hua Quan) Kung Fu with Master Chen in New York City. He started his Yang style Tai Chi Chuan training in 1990 with Dr. Kay-Chi Leung and Master Lin-Lin Harn when he moved to Massachusetts. Over the past 30 years Sigung Maury has studied and expanded his knowledge in kung fu by learning various styles from some of New York's most prominent master's. Presently Sigung Maury's primary focus is on preserving Hua Quan to be as authentic and complete as the original art dating back to the Former Song Dynasty (420 AD). He feels this is his responsibility since Master Chen's family lineage goes straight back to the last recorded Hua Quan Grandmaster, Cai Guagin. Sigung Maury's mission is to bring the very best in traditional kung fu to his students and preserve a big piece of Chinese history, Hua Quan.
