We believe that this system has influenced many styles of kung fu known today. As Grandmaster Chan Pui, from the Wah Lum Temple, stated in his book transcribed from a lecture he gave back in the 1970's "There are numerous systems of Northern Kung Fu and one of the most famous is the Wah (Cantonese for Hua) System. Currently in Red China most of the forms that they do for training came from the Wah System." He also believed that Hua Quan "is the most influential as far as recent day kung fu developments are concerned!"
Master Maury has studied numerous styles of kung fu over 30 plus years and although he is qualified to teach a number of different styles, he chooses to teach Hua Quan. In his opinion the style is the most complete, comprehensive and functional. According to Master Maury "Hua Quan is a true northern system that allows the students, through vigorous practice, to truly develop the skills and understanding needed to one day become a true master. All of the forms (both empty hand and weapons) are closely linked together to develop the energy, flow and skill that leads to mastery. Not to mention that Hua Quan is a true Taoist art with all the Taoist philosophy embedded into it, which in turn leads the student to become a peaceful, calm and well centered individual. This allows the student to develop true self mastery (mastery of our body, mind and spirit)."

After Master Maury's experience and intense training in almost a dozen styles, he agrees with Grandmaster Chan Pui's and Grandmaster Peter Kwok's statements about Hua Quan Kung Fu and concludes that Hua Quan kung fu is one of China's most hidden treasures. Therefore, he has dedicated the remainder of his life to the study, mastery and spreading of Hua Quan.
